BANGKOK (15 Aug 2011) – Defending champions Muang Thong United failed to take advantage of the slip-ups of their nearest rivals as they remained on third in the Thai Premier League 2011 following their scoreless draw against Osotspa M-150 at home at the Yamaha Stadium.
Earlier, current league leaders Buriram PEA had held second-placed Chonburi FC to a 1-1 draw with Pipob On-mo giving Chonburi the lead after just four minutes before Frank Acheampong earned a point for Buriram in the 56th minute.
With the one point, Buriram are firmly at the top of the standings with 49 points – seven points ahead of second-placed Chonburi and eight points in front of third-placed Muang Thong.
In the other matches, Bangkok Glass FC grabbed three crucial points following their 2-1 victory over Thai Port FC with Thai international Sarayuth Chaikamdee providing the winner with a 77th minute stinger.
Peerapong Pichitchotirat’s earlier lead for Bangkok Glass in the 24th minute was cancelled out by Moudorou Moise.
At the Chonburi Physical Education Stadium, hosts Pattaya United edged TOT SC 2-1 off goals from Ittipol Pulsup in the sixth minute and and Paul Ekollo in the 29th minute.
Khon Kaen and TTM Phichit battled to a 2-2 draw at Khon Kaen Stadium while Si Sa Ket FC defeated Army United 2-1 with a brace from Piyawat Thongmae ( 57th and 73rd minute).
At the Chiang Mai 700th Anniversary Stadium, hosts Chiang Rai United were held 1-1 by Sri Racha as Insee Police United lost 1-0 to bottom side Siam Navy FC at the Thammasat stadium.
