BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (20 Jan 2014) – Two first-half goals were enough to regain some measure of satisfaction for MS ABDB (Royal Brunei Armed Forces Sports Council) when they beat Indera SC to win the Brunei Charity Shield.
Indera SC had pipped MS ABDB to the DST Super League title last year due to the former’s superior goal difference.
But this time round, MS ABDB made sure of the win when they struck through Mohd Mazazizi Mazlan’s fifth minute penalty and then Mohd Khairuddin Abdul Kadir’s shot from inside the box in the 25th minute.
“This is my first time in charge of the team and what a very good start it has been for us,” said MS ABDB manager Mufid Umar Ariffin.
“We were very solid from the start but Indera came back in the second-half. We defended very well and I think centre-back Mohd Aliuddin Besar was fantastic.”
Indera’s only goal in the game came off Mohd Sharin’s penalty six minutes to the end.
