JAKARTA (17 May 2014) – The Indonesian Super League (ISL) with their revised East and West Divisions for the 2014 season have received an overwhelming response when a total of 825,445 spectators attended just the first round of matches.
From a total of 110 matches for the two divisions, the Western conference saw 563,315 attendees while for the East, 262,130.
The statistics were released by PT Liga Indonesia – the organiser of the Indonesian Super League.
Of the 110 games played, only 29 were rescheduled while the highest turnout was for the Western Conference game between Persija and Arema which saw 39,880 spectators at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium.
The lowest attendance was in an Eastern Conference tie between Persiram against Putra Samarinda which saw only 79 spectators.
Persija and Persib are the best supported teams with more than 100,000 for each club attending all their matches throughout the first round.
The top scorer in the ISL is Kenmogne Emmanuel from Persebaya with nine goals while the Eastern Conference have picked up the most number of yellow cards with 224.
The Western Conference picked up a total of 15 red cards.
