JOGJAKARTA (21 March 2014) – A close 2-1 win over Persiba Bantul in mid-week has pushed Mitra Kukar to the top of the Indonesia Super League (ISL) 2014 Eastern Conference where they have picked up 13 points from seven matches played so far.
In the match that was played away at the Sasana Krida Stadium in Jogjakarta, the visiting Mitra Kukar side fell behind in the 36th minute when Ngon A Djam nailed the first goal of the game.
A minute before the break, Mitra Kukar fought back with the equaliser off Erick Weeks Lewis as Anindito Wahyu Erminarno then grabbed the 74th minute winner.
“The key was ball possession,” said Mitra Kukar coach Stefan Hansson afterwards. “We created a lot of chances but to be fair, Persiba Bantul certainly did not give us an easy time.”
