YANGON (25 Jan 2013) – The Myanmar Football Federation (MFF) are looking at a date in May this year to launch the first ever Women’s Football League in the country.
Following the success of the women’s team where their Under-19 side recently qualified for the 2013 AFC U-19 Women Championship, a domestic league will give young players a proving ground.
“We are forming a women’s league because we want to create opportunities for women to excel. They need more games and tournaments to gain more practice,” said MFF president U Zaw Zaw.
Matches are scheduled to take place at the Aung San and the Padonma Stadiums in Yangon.
