YANGON (24 Aug 2013) – The Myanmar Football Federation (MFF) have imposed a year-long ban on Naypyitaw FC defender Khine Htoo for a vicious kick to the head of Yangon United’s Yang Aung Kyaw during the final game of the Myanmar National League (MNL) earlier this month.
With the ban announcement this week, Khine Htoo will have to sit out for the whole duration of the MNL in 2014.
In the final game of the season between hosts Naypyitaw FC and Yangon United on 4 August, the game had to be called off in the 37th minute when clashes on the pitch led to ugly exchanges in the terrace.
Other than Khine Htoo, the others who were also punished were Naypyitaw FC coach Myo Hlaing Win (3 match ban and USD 500 fine), midfielder Zaw Lin (5 match ban and fine USD 500 fine), Tin Zaw Moe and reserve keeper Zaw Myo Oo (5 match ban and USD 200 each).
Naypyitaw’s technical consultant Myo Win was also banned for 3 matches and USD 500. Naypyitaw FC are also required to pay KYAT 30 million (USD 30,000) to repair the damages to the Wunna Theikdi Stadium.
Yangon United only had striker Kyi Lin to be punished with a 3 match ban and fine of USD 500 for his part in the incident.
