YANGON (3 Sept 2012) – With an eye on winning the FIFA Under-17 World Cup in 2021, the Myanmar Football Federation (MFF) have initiated a school-based development programme for the Under-12 players.
To be called the MFF U12 Digicel Cup 2012, a total of ten clubs from lower Myanmar will do battle on 10-17 September, 2012 while a further ten clubs from Upper Myanmar will take to the field on 11-17 September 2012.
They will fight for only four available places – two teams each from either division – in the final round.
In the meantime, the MFF also revealed that former Liverpool great John Barnes will be in Yangon to join a training session with 50 players under the age of 12-years-old.
He will also impart coaching knowledge to more than 30 coaches in Myanmar as well.
