PHNOM PENH (17 Feb 2017) – The Metfone C-League 2017 starts tomorrow with a slight tweak with 12 teams set to battle for honours this year in what is expected to be a long season set to end in December.
Defending champions Boeung Ket will be expected to face even tougher challenges following the expanded 12 teams – with Cambodian League 2 champions Kirivong Sok Sen Chey, and runners-up Electricite du Cambodge (EDC) thrown into the fray.
For this year, instead of the outright semi-finals match-ups between the top four teams, the first playoff will be between the fourth and third placed teams, with the winners tackling the second team to earn the right to challenge the table toppers for the overall crown.
Clubs can still register up to five foreigners per season although one must be an Asian and only three can be in the team list in each game.
