MALANG (19 Sept 2013) – The first ever Menpora Cup will kick off tomorrow in two Indonesia cities – Malang and Bandung – on 20-28 Sept 2013.
A total of eight teams will be taking part with five teams from the Indonesian Super League (ISL) and they are Persib Bandung, Sriwijaya FC, Arema Malang, Mitra Kukar and Persepam Madura.
The three invited teams are Central Cost Mariners from Australia, Loyola Meralco Sparks FC from the Philippines and als the Malaysian Under-23 team.
“We are grateful that we have received the belief and also the support from the (Indonesian) Sports Minister Roy Suryo and also MNCTV for this tournament to be organized,” said Muhammad Zein, a director with organisers PT Gelora Garuda Indonesia.
The tournament which offers a total prize money of IDR 1 miliar (USD 93,000) .
In Bandung, the tournament will be played at the while in Malang, it will be held at the Kanjuruhan Stadium.
