PETALING JAYA (26 Jan 2011) – The Malaysian Under-21 squad bounced back from their loss to the Thai Olympic side in midweek to beat the Singapore Olympic team 2-0 at the Jalan Besar Stadium.
The Malaysian youngsters had conceded a 2-1 defeat to Thailand previously while this week, a goal each from Jaringan Irfan Fazail in the 23rd minute and Syahrul Azwari Ibrahim in the 45th minute were enough to see off Singapore.
The two friendly match forms part of the Malaysian U21 side’s preparation for the Malaysian Super League which will kick-off on the weekend.
The team is also preparing for the 2012 Olympic Games qualifiers where they will face Pakistan at home next month before the return tie in March.
They will also be the team to represent Malaysia for the SEA Games at the end of the year with the task of defending the gold medal the Malaysians won two years ago.
