KUALA LUMPUR (3 August 2012) – The Chelsea Youth squad completed their two-game tour of the Far East with a convincing 4-2 win over the Malaysian national Under-19 team this week.
Ali Gordon gave Chelsea the lead after just after five minutes when he slammed home the corner from Jesse Starkey before they then doubled their lead at the half hour mark through Walter Figueira.
The score at the half was 2-0 to Chelsea.
Barely a minute into the second half, George Cole put the Blues 3-0 up with a first-timer as Figueira then scored his second and Chelsea’s fourth with a pile driver from inside the box.
Malaysia pulled a goal back through Norhamizaref Hamid when he pounced on a defensive error as Mohd Hafizal Mohamad then nailed the second goal for the home team in the closing stages of the game.
The victory has given some measure of satisfaction to Chelsea Youth, who had the previous week conceded a 1-0 loss to the Leo All Stars select side in Bangkok.
