PETALING JAYA (13 July 2009) – Malaysia scored a morale-boosting 4-0 win over Zimbabwe in the first of two friendlies lined up for the week.
In the match that was played at the Kuala Lumpur Stadium in Cheras last night, the Malaysians had to wait until the 42nd minute of play before they were able to score their first goal of the game – that too off a Nasriq Rahim penalty. The hosts then notched up their second goal from veteran Indra Putra Marauding (pix) five minutes after the restart before wrapping up the tie with two more goals from Mohd Farderin Kadir in the 85th minute and Norsharul Idlan Talaha two minutes to the end. The Malaysians, who will take on English Premier League champions Manchester United this Saturday at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil, will play their second friendly against Zimbabwe tomorrow at the Shah Alam Stadium (kick-off at 5.30pm). |
