KUALA LUMPUR (7 July 2010) – The Malaysian Asian Games-bound team will take on the South Korean Olympic team in a friendly that will be played at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil on 25 July.
Kick-off for the match has been slated for 5pm (local time). The Malaysians are using the match to prepare their squad for the Datuk Che Mat Jusoh, te FA of Malaysia (FAM) competitions committee chairman, said that the Koreans would parade a few of their players from the senior team who competed at the World Cup Finals in South Africa. “It will be good sparring for the national team,” said Che Mat. The friendly game is held to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Malaysia and South Korea diplomatic relations. However, Che Mat said that they regretted to inform that the high-profile matches against Spanish giants Real Madrid and English Championship side Cardiff City had to be called off due to technical reasons. The only consolation is that Cardiff have extended an invitation to host a training camp in Wales for the Malaysian team ahead of the Asian Games in November. |
