KUALA LUMPUR (21 Jan 2013) – If everything goes to plan, Malaysia might have Japan-born Tam Sheang Tsang turning out for the national side in future international tournaments.
With teams across the ASEAN region already on an intensive drive to bring their foreign-based players back from abroad to play for their national sides, the Malaysians has only recently experimented with this idea – the last being with France-based Titus Palani.
But this week, Malaysian team manager Datuk Seri Subahan Kamal said that they will be looking at the 17-year-old Sheang Tsang, who currently plays for Shanghai Shenhua in China.
“We have to assess his suitability first on whether he can complement the current set up. If he can, then we will put him with the Harimau Muda A first,” said Datuk Seri Subahan.
Sheanh Tsang was born in Tokyo to Malaysian parents who opened a restaurant in Japan more than 20 years ago. He holds a Malaysian passport.
