PETALING JAYA (5 May 2017) – The Malaysian Futsal Under-20 team fell to a 6-4 loss to Melaka in a friendly that was played last night.
Melaka are the current leaders of the Malaysian Futsal League.
In the friendly that was played in Krubong, Melaka, the Malaysian youth side – which is being prepared for the AFC Futsal U20 Championship in Bangkok, Thailand next week – scored four goals through Aidil Shahril Rosli (two goals), Awalludin Mat Nawi and Saad Sani.
The Malaysian U20 team had earlier beaten Pahang 4-1 at the Stadium Tertutup SUKPA in Kuantan a few days earlier.
“We played quite well when we took a 2-0 lead although we made some mistakes after that which allowed Melaka to get back into the game,” said Malaysian U20 head coach Chiew Chun Yong.
“But the positive was that the players did not lose shape or get disheartened when we were down and that was very important. That fighting spirit against more experienced players and against a team which had a string of senior players.”
In Bangkok, Malaysia will be up against hosts Thailand (16 May), Afghanistan (17 May), Bahrain (18 May), Iraq (19 May) and Brunei (20 Mei) in Group A at the Bangkok Arena.
