KUALA LUMPUR (30 April 2008) – Malaysia will take on Chelsea in the Champions Youth Cup 2008 in what was a repeat of last year’s clash following the official draw of the tournament.
The hosts have been placed in a tricky Group B based in Penang of the meet where they will also be up against youth development programme specialists Ajax Amsterdam and Italian giants AC Milan. The tournament which is restricted for players Under-16 will be played in four venues of Melaka, Penang, Terengganu and Pahang from 5-16 August 2008. Penang and Terengganu are new host venues while Melaka and Pahang organized two groups last year. Defending champions Manchester United will take on last year’s losing finalists Juventus earlier in the competition when they were classified in the same Group D alongside Porto and China in Terengganu. Group A which will play all their matches in Pahang are PSV Eindhoven, Barcelona, India and Flamengo while Group C in Melaka comprises of Olympic Lyonnaise, Bayern Munich, River Plate and Qatar.
