KUALA LUMPUR (8 Sept 2012) – Malaysia have added another game against Hong Kong as well as looking for two more friendly matches in their effort to defend the AFF Suzuki Cup title they won for the first time two years ago.
The Malaysians, who will be hosting Group B of the biennial meet against Indonesia, Singapore and the runners-up team from the qualifiers, had initially just penned in three matches a month in the run-up to the tournament proper in November.
They have been confirmed to play Vietnam on 11 September at the National Stadium in Bukit and then Hong Kong away on 16 October.
They will then make a return trip against against Vietnam at the My Dinh National Stadium on 3 November.
But this week, Malaysian chief coach Datuk K. Rajagobal has now confirmed a return tie against Hong Kong in Kuala Lumpur on 14 November to make it four friendly games in total.
“We are still looking for two more friendly matches. We have yet to narrow down the candidates but they will have to give us a very competitive atmosphere in our preparation to defend the AFF Suzuki Cup crown,” added Rajagobal (pix).
“Six matches should be enough for us to assess the players.”
