KUALA LUMPUR (28 July 2008) – Malaysia national coach B. Sathianathan will have a simple plan ahead of their match against English side Chelsea tomorrow – and that is to make their better-known opponents work.
The Malaysia Selection team will play Chelsea at the Stadium Shah Alam as part of the Chelsea Asian Tour 2008 with the Blues having played two matches in China already. They overcame Guangzhou 4-0 before beating the Chengdu Blades FC with a 7-0 scoreline. “I know that Chelsea are here with all their stars and well-known players but that should not deter us from putting up a good performance,” said Sathia. “They beat their two previous opponents with big scoreline and while everyone expects us to do no better, I hope that the players can show what they are worth. “At the very least, they should make the Chelsea players work hard for the win.” The Malaysia national team had just recently played two matches against the China Olympic team (which they lost 4-0) and also the India national team (drew 1-1) as part of their build-up for the Asean Football Championship later in the year. Sathia said that the aim this year will be the Asean Football Championship and where the match against Chelsea will be another important step forward. As far as his starting 11 for the match against Chelsea is concerned, Sathia replied: “I know who they are but let me talk to them first.” Kick-off for the game is 8.45pm. |
