BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (16 Dec 2011) – Majra United have pledged their commitment to continue with their development programme with an aim to produce more talents for the national team, despite them already doing so for more than five years now.
“Over the years, we have produced youth players who have represented the country at the national level. After a while, some of them have moved to other local clubs. So it is true that we have a youth system that has been around for years,” said Mahadi Mat Zain, the chief coach of Majra United.
Even after being banned for two years by FIFA, Majra still managed to continue with their development programme where at the recent SEA Games in Indonesia, they had four players representing the national team including striker Adi Said.
“Adi is our player and has been with us since a very young age,” added Mahadi. “The presence of gifted players like Adi Said gives the league more of a spectacle, as it could spark more interest for fans to come and watch local league games.
“I hope fans will show more support to the local football league and their footballers. They give more soul to the atmosphere of the league.”
