SINGAPORE (24 July 2016) – Singapore scored a loss and a win in their first two friendlies of their tour of Japan as they look forward to their final test against Albirex Niigata.
The Lions conceded a 3-2 loss to Niigata University of Health and Welfare (NUHW) before beating Japan Soccer College (JSC) 2-0.
“The weather is somewhat like it is back home, so it’s not a problem,” said head V. Sundramoorthy. “We’re training in the Albirex training centre where there’s four natural grass pitches and two artificial pitches.
“As I’ve said before, this tour is not about results, but more about giving opportunities to players, working on areas which we need to work on and find the right mix for the team.
“Everyone from the seniors to the new players are fighting hard for their places, but also working and pushing one another at the same time. It’s very encouraging to see them being so united.”
