SINGAPORE (24 April 2009) – English giants Liverpool have confirmed that they will be heading to the Far East in July for two friendly matches – in Thailand and Singapore.
Steve McMahon, a director with Profitable Group who are responsible for bringing the five-times European Champions, said that the side from Anfield will head to the Far East directly from their training camp in Switzerland. “Liverpool are scheduled to play in Bangkok on 22 July before heading to the Singapore National Stadium on 26 July,” said McMahon. “All the first squad players will make the trip here. It will give the Liverpool fans a great chance of watching their heroes in action. “But the fact is that Liverpool are here not for a holiday where we have a professional attitude towards our commitment to our fans. Furthermore at that point in time, the team will be in the final phase of preparation for the new English Premier League season. “The English season will begin only three weeks after their trip to the Far East which means that they are not here in the off season.” In the meantime Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez was quoted as saying: ”We have a great fan base in Thailand and in Singapore and it is quite obvious that it will be interesting to bring the players there again.” |
