SINGAPORE (14 Aug 2018) – The Singapore national team has planned up to six friendlies in their run-up to the AFF Suzuki Cup in November.
The team under new head coach Fandi Ahmad will play Mauritius and Fiji at home in September, before taking on Mongolia at home and Cambodia away in October.
The team has also planned an overseas training camp with two more friendlies planned.
“We have already started preparing for the 2018 AFF Suzuki Cup with gym work with a small group of available players, and we have scheduled two field sessions in August,” said Fandi.
“The four friendly matches will be an opportunity for me to see how well the players gel together as a team, especially for those who are playing overseas. These matches are also an opportunity for the boys to fight for a place in the final squad.
“I am also fortunate to have a strong backroom staff supporting me in this tournament, including Noh Alam Shah who will be bringing his experience to share with the younger players as a mentor to the players.
“We are only three months to our opening AFF Suzuki Cup match against Indonesia and we look forward to seeing our Singapore fans join us on this journey, starting from our first friendly match against Mauritius in September.”
