SINGAPORE (13 Nov 2014) – ASEAN champions Singapore head into their final phase of preparation on a confident note where tonight they edged Laos 2-0 in a friendly that was played at the Yishun Stadium.
Baihakki Khaizan gave the Lions the best of start with the lead after just five minutes before striker Khairul Amri added the second goal in the 32nd minute of play.
Laos – who are in Group A of the AFF Suzuki Cup qualifiers against hosts Vietnam, the Philippines and Indonesia – tightened up their defence in the second half and prevented Singapore from increasing their advantage.
Singapore’s final friendly will be against Cambodia on 17 November. The four-time champions are in Group B against Thailand, Malaysia and Myanmar.
