JAKARTA (2 April 2012) – Recently naturalised Indonesian player Stefano Lilipaly is itching to see action in the region’s most popular sporting event – the AFF Suzuki Cup.
The 22-year-old defender, who received his Indonesian citizenship last year, is currently playing for FC Utrecht in Holland’s Eredivisie. But he indicated this week that he had already turned down an offer from the club to a year’s extension to his contract.
“With this latest development, it would mean that I am ready to attend selection for the AFF Suzuki Cup,” said Lilipaly.
“I hope that I will be given more opportunity to turn out for Indonesia.”
The preliminary round of the AFF Suzuki Cup 2012 will be held in late November in Malaysia and Thailand.
