HANOI (13 May 2016) – Referee Ha Anh Chien will no longer see action in Vietnam’s top flight of the V.League following a bad call in the match between FLC Thanh Hoa and Song Lam Nghe An (SLNA).
Anh Chien, who is already under the radar where his performance was to be reviewed at the end of the first round of the league, has now received the full bane of the Vietnam Football Federation’s Referee’s Committee.
He has been slapped with a life ban although he can still take charge of games at the lower levels.
Anh Chien had given a penalty to host FLC Thanh Hoa at the very last minute of play against Song Lam Nghe An which resulted in a 1-1 draw.
After reviewing the video tape and receiving reports from the various match officials, the committee decided it was a serious mistake that strongly affected the result of the game and the tournament’s ranking.
The 40-year-old Anh Chien had just joined the V.League two years ago.
