VIENTIANE (28 Sept 2009) – The Lao Football Federation (LFF) have received sponsorship of 100 million kip (USD 11,799) to host the pre-SEA Games which will be held in Vientiane on 2-6 October 2009.
The main sponsor is Crossfire Company. The pre-SEA Games is being held with the participation of the Laos Under-23 teams and the Under-19 teams of Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam from 2-6 October 2009. The reason for organising the event was to allow SEA Games officials the chance to test the broadcasting system and other facilities at the newly-built National Stadium. “This tournament would serve as a testing ground of the overall function of the various systems of the new stadium,” said Phouvanh Vongsouthi, the president of the LFF. The evening matches will commence at 4:30pm and 7pm (local time). Tickets have been priced at 40,000 kip (USD USD 4.7) for general admission and 80.000 kip (USD 9.4) for VIP seats. Proceeds from the sale of tickets will be used to fund local football matches. “The Four-Nations Football Tournament will have a special significance for Laos as it will enable the country to demonstrate to the international audience that Laos are capable of hosting international events,” added Thiphakhanh Vilavanh, director of Crossfire. |
