JAKARTA (28 March 2014) – A late penalty from Raphael Maitimo saved Indonesia the blushes when they escaped with a slim 1-0 win over lowly Andorra in a friendly this week in Valencia.
Head coach Alfred Riedl commented afterwards that a draw would have been a fair result, considering the action of both teams.
“It was a very difficult match for sure where other than the quality of the Andorra squad, we also had to contend with a very strong headwind. That made playing a technical game very tough,” said Riedl.
“A draw would have been fair for both teams but it was good to win nonetheless.”
Indonesia’s next match in their tour of Spain would be against Cuba tomorrow before playing Spanish La Liga side, Elche on 2 April.
