PHNOM PENH (6 August 2010) – A late winner deep in injury time from Nout Sinuon allowed Build Bright United the chance to keep chase of a place in the play-offs in the Metfone Cambodian League 2010 when they edged out Khemara Keila FC 2-1 at the National Olympic Stadium.
But Build Bright’s aspiration almost came undone when they conceded to a Suon Makara’s early goal for Khemara Keila in the sixth minute of play. Khemara who are already out of a place for the play-offs (for the top four teams) were determined at the back as they held out for the lead at the half. At the hour mark however, Proum Putsithy came charging back for Build Bright with the equaliser before sustained pressure well into injury time saw Nout Sinuon providing the late winner. With the three points, Build Bright have completed their games for the season where they have picked up 39 points from 18 games played. They are a point adrift of Naga Corp who take the top spot at the table with 40 points with a game in hand while former champions Phnom Penh Crown are third with 36 points – also from the same number of 17 matches played. Naga Corp will complete their fixtures this weekend against perennial strugglers Wat Phnom while Phnom Penh will have it tougher against fourth-placed Preah Khan Reach FC. Only the top four teams at the end of the league season will play in the play-offs. CURRENT METFONE LEAGUE STANDINGS 1. NAGA CORP FC 40pts (+24) 2. BUILD BRIGHT UNITED FC 39pts (+29) 3.
