VIENTIANE (5 Sept 2011) – Laos will receive help from Vietnam in preparing their athletes for the 26th SEA Games which will be hosted by Indonesia on 11-22 November 2011.
This was agreed upon during a recent visit to Laos by Vietnamese Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Hoang Tuan Anh, who met Lao Minister of Education and Sports Phankham Viphavan.
Other than agreeing to the development of athletes for the 26th SEA Games in Indonesia, the two countries also have to terms with the enhancement of cooperation in culture, sports and tourism between border provinces and also the organisation of national sports games and sports competitions between the two countries.
They also agreed to upgrade national sport training centre into the national sports and physical training school, and enhancing the cooperation between the two National Olympic Committees.
They expressed their pleasure with the effectiveness of the two ministries’ cooperation with the exchange of delegations, organisation of sporting competitions and experience sharing.
Vietnam also sent experts to help Lao sports and received Lao sports teams for training – specifically the Laos national Under-23 football team.
