VIENTIANE (8 June 2013) – Laos conceded a 5-2 loss at home to Singapore at the National Stadium KM16 as Indonesia gained some Dutch lesson when they fell to a 3-0 defeat the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium.
The Lions roared to a 3-0 lead at the half off goals from Indra Sahdan Daud (7th minute), Hariss Harun (27th) and Safuwan Baharudin (42nd) before the home team replied with two goals after the break through Ketsada Souksavanh (47th) and Khonesavanh Sihavong (62nd).
But there was no stopping the four-time ASEAN champions when found the back of the net in the 83rd minute off Gabriel Quak and Hafiz Rahim (86th). The victory was Singapore’s second in less than a week under new chief coach Bernd Stange, after beating Myanmar 2-0 in Yangon.
In Jakarta, the Indonesian national side under Jacksen F. Tiago put up a strong first half to hold Holland to a scoreless draw. But the breather would prove pivotal as the Oranje prised open the cagey Indonesian defense for Siem de Jong to nail a brace off goals in the 57th and 67th minute.
Arjen Robben then completed the win with the third and final goal right at the end.
