VIENTIANE (19 July 2014) – The Laos Under-21 team has been hard at work over the past month as they gear up for the Hassanal Bolkiah Trophy 2014 in Brunei next month.
Assistant coach Vongmisay Soubouakham said that even though in spite of the demands the on-going Laos Premier League heading into their final few matches of the season, the team still managed to squeeze in training twice a week.
“We have established our 27 team members since early July but can only practice twice a week because of the current league tournament. We will, however, do our best and hope to place higher in the tournament,” said Vongmisay, whose team’s best finish was in 2002 when they made the semi-finals.
“Every country in attendance is dreaming of the winning. Laos are the same and I believe that the team will do their best for the country and reach the semifinal at least.”
Laos are in Group A alongside Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand and Timor Leste.
Group B are hosts Brunei, Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore and Vietnam.
