KOTA KINABALU (21 Dec 2019) – Former Indonesian international Kurniawan Dwi Yulianto has signed to coach Sabah as they look to make an impression after gaining promotions into the Malaysian Super League 2020.
Sabah FA president Datuk Peter Anthony announced the new appointments alongside team manager Henry Saimpon, who is also a former Sabah player.
Sabah won the second-tier Premier League under former international Jelius Ating where he has been retained with Burhan Ajui where they will be assistants to Kurniawan.
Kurniawan has also brought along another Indonesian Sofie Imam Faizal as the new fitness coach.
Kurniawan made his debut as an 18-year-old with Swiss side FC Luzern as one the more talented striker of his generation. He scored 33 goals in 59 appearances in the Merah Putih.
He has been the assistant coach for the Indonesia national team in the past few years where he was also part of the coaching squad for Indonesia at the recent SEA Games in Manila.
