KIRIVONG CONSOLIDATE POSITION; PHNOM PENH CROWN HELD

PHNOM PENH (6 July 2010) – An easy 4-2 win over Chhma Khmao has allowed Kirivong Sok Sen Chey FC to consolidate their position in the top half of the Metfone Cambodian League 2010 as title aspirant Phnom Penh Crown were rudely held to a 1-1 draw by Khemara Keila FC.

J. Chukwuma recorded a personal best when he scored all four of Kirivong’s goals when he found the back of the net in the 10th, 13th, 58th and 62nd as against Chhma Khmao’s two goals from Men Pisith in the 55th minute and Phan Dara in the 87th minute.

With the three points, Kirivong strengthened their position on fifth at the table – four points behind fourth-place Preah Khan Reach FC but ten points adrift of the leader Naga Corp FC.

In the meantime, Phnom Penh Crown’s hope of remaining at the top of the table fell under when Khemara Keila fought with everything they have to hold the former champions to a 1-1 stalemate.

It was Phnom Penh who went ahead in the 40th minute through Sun Sopanha but Khemara was quick with the reply in the second half when captain Kuoch Sokompheak grabbed the equalising goal on 64th minute.

With the one point on the weekend, Phnom Penh have to settle for the second spot at the standings with 29 points from 13 matches – two points less than defending champions Naga Corp FC who are still at the top of the standings with 31 points from the same number of games.
