BANGKOK (14 Jan 2010) – A goal from Thailand’s Under-23 striker Kirati Keowsombut gave the hosts a morale-boosting 2-1 win over Ulsan Hyundai in a friendly that was played at the Rajamangala Stadium last night.
Veteran midfielder Therdsak Chaiman had given Thailand the lead off a penalty just two minutes into the game before Ulsan replied with the equalizer from Lee Jae-min’s freekick ten minutes later. For the match against Ulsan, Thailand head coach Bryan Robson had rested several regulars and fielded instead a number of youngsters from the SEA Games U23 side. The team is being prepared for the King’s Cup later this week which will see Thailand opening their campaign against Singapore at His Majesty the King’s 80th Birthday Anniversary Stadium in Nakhon Rachasima on Sunday. Other than Thailand and Singapore, the other teams taking part are defending champions Denmark and Poland. |
