KUALA LUMPUR (17 July 2012) – Ong Kim Swee, the chief coach of the Malaysia Selection side, is looking forward to taking on Turkish giants Galatasaray FC in the Java Cup slated for 23-30 July 2012 in Jakarta.
The Malaysia Selection side and Galatasaray are part of the four teams playing in the Java Cup with the others being the Indonesia national side and English Premier League’s Everton FC.
“It is a once in a lifetime experience to play against a side like Galatasaray and for the young players, they can’t get a better exposure that this,” said Kim Swee (pix).
“We will not have much time to prepare for this game against Galatasaray as tomorrow; we will be leaving for Singapore where we will play two games in the S-League with the Under-23 side.
“We will just have two days to prepare for the game against Galatasaray where we hope that we can find the right combination with the several older players that we have brought along for this tournament.”
Other than the 16 Harimau Muda ‘A’ players, Kim Swee have also enlisted several experienced hands to further strengthen the squad for the Java Cup. He said that with a handful of his stalwarts currently with the Malaysian national side under chief coach K. Rajagobal, he has had to look for reinforcements elsewhere.
Among them are former internationals Mohd Shukor Adan and Mohd Amri Yahyah as well as two foreigners in Michael Kubala from Perak and Ramez Dayoub from Selangor.
