HO CHI MINH CITY (5 Nov 2013) – The withdrawal of Kien Giang FC have left the V-League 2014 with just 13 teams instead of 14.
“By 5pm on 30 October, Kien Giang did not register for the V-League. Thus, the 2014 season will have 13 teams,” said Tran Duy Ly, the CEO of the Vietnam Professional Football JSC.
The 13 teams for the V-League 2014 are An Giang, Binh Duong, Ninh Binh, Quang Nam, Dong Tam Long An, Thanh Hoa, SHB Da Nang, Ha Noi T&T, Quang Ninh Coal, Dong Nai, Song Lam Nghe An, Hoang Anh Gia Lai and V. Hai Phong.
It is not only the top-tier V-League which will see a reduction in the number of teams where the Vietnam First Division with also see one less team taking part with eight teams instead of nine.
Binh Dinh FC failed to sign up for the First Division tournament in 2014.
The teams are Tay Ninh, Khanh Hoa, Can Tho, Ho Chi Minh City, Dak Lak, Thua Thien Hue, Hanoi and CS Dong Thap.
