SINGAPORE (7 August 2009) – Striker Khairul Amri has been given a recall to the Singapore national team in preparation for the National Day Challenge match against China at the National Stadium on 12 August 2009.
It will be Khairul’s first international match since his long lay-off from a foot injury he suffered since last November. The 24-year-old Tampines Rovers’ strikers has been making a steady recovery and played for his club last week. Singapore head coach Radojko Avramovic‘s decision to give a call back to Khairul was motivated by the team‘s failure to put up a strong showing in the team‘s 5-0 loss to Liverpool last month. Khairul has represented Singapore for a total of 53 times and have scored eight goals. The other strikers in the squad are Aleksandar Duric, Indra Sahdan Daud and Mohd Noh Alam Shah.
