KUALA LUMPUR (22 Jan 2012) – Kelantan take the lead in the Malaysian Super League 2012 while Singapore’s LIONSXII picked up their second full points in four matches on the weekend which saw several big names being given doses of humble pies.
Defending champions Kelantan showed that they will be the team to beat this year when they outclassed Kedah 3-0 on the road at the Darul Aman Stadium. Goals from Mohammed Mahmoud Ghaddar (35th minute penalty), Norshahrul Idlan Talaha (78th, pix) and Danny Antwi (90th) made sure that the east coast side is the only unbeaten side so far.
In the meantime, LIONSXII picked up their second win when they beat Sabah 1-0 at the Likas Stadium in Kota Kinabalu with the only goal in the game coming off Harris Harun’s header in the 20th minute.
The Singapore side had beaten Kuala Lumpur 2-1 in their last game that was played at the Jalan Besar Stadium.
On the other hand, Selanagor had to be content with just a scoreless draw against Sarawak as T-Team’s hope of overtaking Kelantan at the top of the table were dashed when they fell 2-1 to Terengganu at the Sultan Ismail Nasiruddin Shah Stadium.
Despite taking the lead off Zairo Anuar Zalani in the 12th minute, T-Team could not maintain their composure when they allowed Francis Forkey Doe to score twice in the 20th and 59th minute to give Terengganu the full points.
