PHNOM PENH (3 Nov 2012) – Local Cambodian coaches and football kids got a once in a lifetime opportunity from conglomerate YKK when they bring Real Madrid Foundation (RMF) coaches to Phnom Penh on 1-3 November for a clinic.
YKK are a global developer, manufacturer and supplier of quality fastening and architectural products.
Over 30 local coaches and 250 kids will meet and train under coaches Pablo Gomez Revenga, Javier Garcia Torres and Ivan Garcia Sacristan from RMF – the corporate social responsibility (CSR) arm of Spain’s top football club, Real Madrid Club de Futbol.
The “Just for Kicks” YKK ASAO Kids Football Clinic is an ongoing YKK ASAO Group’s regional CSR project that has been making the rounds in the ASEAN and South Asia regions since 2007.
It kicked off successfully in Singapore and was subsequently brought to Indonesia, Bangladesh, Vietnam, India, Thailand and Sri Lanka to reach out to more children. This year, the clinic was held in the Philippines and now in Cambodia, where football is enthusiastically enjoyed by people of all ages.
”This CSR project aims to support the healthy growth of children through sports and we believe that football is a common language that everyone can enjoy regardless of culture, nationality or religion,” said Ken Nakano, the president of YHA.
“YKK ASAO Kids Football Clinic enables our company to contribute to the local community especially in areas where we have set up offices and facilities. This is also in line with YKK’s corporate philosophy “The Cycle of Goodness” which advocates that ‘no one prospers unless he renders benefit to others.”
YKK’s CSR project is supported and sanctioned by the Football Federation of Cambodia (FFC), the country’s governing body for football.
“FFC supports initiatives that help to improve the lives of our Cambodian youths and we thank YKK for bringing this worthwhile project in the country,” said Keo Sareth, FFC Development Officer.
“We are excited to be part of the second leg of the kid’s clinic in Cambodia and we thank YKK for partnering with us on this project for the second time. Through the YKK ASAO Kids Football Clinic, we are able to reach out to the Cambodian coaches and kids and share with them Real Madrid’s football techniques and sports values,” said Manuel Parreño Rodríguez, Head of International Clinics and Camps at RMF.
