PETALING JAYA (15 April 2012) – A strike from Frenchman Nicoise Mickael Joseph in the second half gave Selangor PKNS a close 1-0 win over LIONSXII in the match that was played at the Petaling Jaya Stadium last night.
The loss was LIONSXII’s first defeat on the road.
“It was just one of those days but one thing for sure is that we will bounce back from this defeat,” added V. Sundramoorthy, the chief coach of LIONSXII.
In the first half, LIONSXII were cagey at the back to hold PKNS scoreless but the pouring rain would soon turn the tide against the side from Singapore when Joseph fired home in the 79th minute for the win.
Off a free kick from the left, Joseph was quick to pounce on a loose ball for the only goal of the game.
However, the win failed to have a dramatic impact on PKNS’ ninth placing at the table while for LIONSXII, they still maintained their position at the top of the table with 33 points from 16 games.
But second-placed Kelantan, with 28 points, still have three games in hand as do Terengganu on third with 24 points.
