BUKIT JALIL (13 July 2014) – Newly crowned Super League champions Johor Darul Takzim (JDT) will renew their rivalry with Kelantan while defending champions Pahang received a favourable draw but Selangor could find it tough when the Malaysia Cup draw was made at the National Sports Institute’s Dewan Perdana this afternoon.
Pahang who beat Kelantan in last year’s final were drawn in Group A together with last year’s Super League champions Lions XII and – Felda United and Johor Darul Takzim II – two teams that plied their trade in the Premier League. Felda, however, gained promotion to the Super League next season after finishing runners-up to Police in the second-tier league.
Group B will see unpredictable Terengganu slogging it out with East Malaysian outfit Sarawak for a top two place in the group and a place in the quarter-finals. Perak, who barely avoided relegation on goal difference and Premier League’s Kedah are the other two teams in Group B.
