JOHOR BARU (9 June 2018) – There seems to be no stopping Johor Darul Takzim in their chase for their fifth Malaysian Super League title since 2014 – stretching their lead to 11 points after a 1-0 win over Pahang at the Larkin Stadium in Johor Bahru on Friday.
The top of the table clash left JDT with 35 points after 14 matches while second-placed Pahang has 24 from the same number of matches.
At the Sultan Mohd IV Stadium in Kota Bahru, Kedah exacted sweet revenge on Kelantan with a 1-0 win with Brazilian Paulo Rangel heading home the winner in injury time in the first half.
JDT’s winner came from Singaporean midfielder Hariss Harun after new signing Fernando Marquez’s attempt was blocked by a Pahang defender but the Argentine was quick to take the rebound to set-up Hariss.
For Pahang, it was a double disappointment as the Elephants were reduced to 10 players after 68 minutes when Singapore international Safuwan Baharudin was given the marching orders for two bookable offences.
The two teams clash again this Tuesday – this time at the Darul Makmur Stadium in Kuantan.
