KUALA LUMPUR (21 March 2018) – The Malaysia FA Cup draw is out with last year’s runners-up Pahang facing four-time Super League champions Johor Darul Takzim for a place in the last four.
A prelude to the FA Cup clash will take place at the Larkin Stadium in Johor Bahru when the two football giants face each other in a top of the table Super League clash on 30 March.
JDT lead the league standings after five matches with 12 points while Pahang are in second spot with 10 points – ahead of PKNS FC on goal difference.
There is more in store in the FA Cup with Selangor taking on Kuala Lumpur in the Klang derby while Perak face PKNS FC. The other quarter-final matches pit Felda United against Perak SEDC (PKNP).
The first-leg matches will be played on April 6,7 and 8 while the return-leg matches are scheduled on April 20, 21, and 22.
The Pahang-JDT biggie is the main draw card. Last year Pahang edged the Southern Tigers 4-3 on aggregate at the same stage of the competition. JDT won the FA Cup in 2016.
However, Pahang lost to Kedah 3-2 in the final. The Elephants got their revenge over Kedah when they beat the Red Eagles 1-0 in the third round match in Kuantan last week.
Perak too will gunning for revenge against PKNS FC. Last year the Selangor outfit sent Perak out in the semi-finals 4-3 on aggregate.
Selangor go into match against a revitalised Kuala Lumpur. In the this year’s league Selangor came off 2-0 winners of the City Boys at the KL FA Football Stadium in Cheras.
