JAKARTA (26 July 2012) – The Java Cup have been postponed to mid-August following the withdrawals of both big name teams – Galatasaray FC from Turkey and Everton from England.
“After due consultation with the investors, sponsors and also the broadcasters, we have decided not to hold the Java Cup 2012 at this time,” said Widjajanto, the chief executive officer of organisers PT LPIS.
“Of course, we are disappointed. And this especially when we have fulfilled all the obligations required from our side. We have not decided on the next step but I believe that we might host the event in mid-August.”
The Java Cup was supposed to begin today at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium.
