JAKARTA (15 November 2024) – Indonesia were taught some hard lessons by Japan in their third-round qualifiers of the FIFA World Cup 2026 when they succumbed to a 4-0 loss tonight at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium.
Up against a team that had appeared at the last seven editions of the FIFA World Cup, Indonesia found it hard-going in their Group C clash when Justin Hubner conceded an own goal in the 35th minute.
Japan would finish the first half 2-0 in front when Takumi Minamino slotted home the second goal for the visitors.
Hidemasa Morita then gave Japan their third goal of the game in the 49th minute as Yukinari Sugawara put the finishing touch in the 69th minute.
Indonesia’s next match will be against Saudi Arabia, which held Australia scoreless in Melbourne yesterday, on 19 November 2024 at the same venue.
