JAKARTA (19 April 2013) – The achievements of Jacksen F. Tiago over the years has not gone unnoticed by the FA of Indonesia (PSSI) when the Brazilian was appointed as the new chief coach of the Indonesia national team yesterday.
After weeks of uncertainty amidst wild rumours which also saw a clear out of the coaching staff, the PSSI’s National team Management Committee (BTN) has decided on Jacksen as the man to lead the senior squad.
Jacksen has been playing football professionally in Indonesia since 1994. His best coaching achievement to date is winning the Indonesia Super League (ISL) twice with Persipura Jayapura.
“It is impossible that (Luis Manuel) Blanco will be the national coach. We have decided that he handles the Under-19 team instead,” said La Nyalla Mattalitti, the chairman of the BTN, who is also the deputy president of the PSSI.
“I will ask him whether he is up to handling the U19 team. If he is agreeable, then he can proceed to select players. Otherwise, we will rescind the contract.
The plan is to have Blanco work closely with Indra Sjafri, the former U19 coach who led the team to the Hong Kong U19 crown recently.
