JAKARTA (1 March 2015) – Joko Driyono, the chief executive officer of PT Liga Indonesia, has set 4 April as the kick-off date of the Indonesian Super League 2015.
PT Liga Indonesia is the organiser of Indonesia’s Super League (ISL) and also the lower rung Premier League.
“I believe that this is the best possible date following the problem that was raised earlier,” said Joko. “It is not as easy as just saying that we want to start next week or a week after. There are issues which need to be addressed.
“And furthermore, the teams will also have to reschedule their travelling plans and also the organisation of matches at the respective venues.”
The ISL was supposed to start on 20 Feb but has had to be postponed following the refusal of the BOPI (Indonesian Board of Professional Athletes) to give the green light for kick-off.
They alleged that the clubs playing in the ISL had failed to submit proper documentation in as far as their finances were concerned.
“Since the ISL will start on 4 Feb, the Premier League will now be pegged to start at least two weeks later.”
