BANGKOK (5 Oct 2022) – Thailand will be taking on Iran in the semifinals of the AFC Futsal Asian Cup 2022 tomorrow but given the pedigree of the latter, it is no surprise that the 12-time champions are the clear favorites.
Alireza Abbasi, a well-known face of Futsal science and also the official representative of women’s and men’s futsal of the Middle East countries, said: “I think that if nothing special happens, Iran’s futsal team can become the champions again.”
Iran’s national futsal team is almost complete for this Asian competition due to their youthfulness along with experienced players such as Muslim Olad Qabad, Saeed Ahmad Abbasi and Hossein Tayibi who have experience playing in prestigious clubs in the world.
The tactical variety and especially the individual skills of the Iranian players have distinguished this team from other teams in the tournament.
Of course, one should not neglect the chemistry between the technical staff and the players of the team, which can be very important in obtaining the desired results.
The game with Thailand is a little different because the Thai Futsal team has made significant progress in these years and was almost among the top 4 teams in the tournament in the past years.
“On the other hand, by bringing the Spanish head coach Carlos Cesar Nunez, we will definitely see a good game. Because this coach has shown the knowledge that he works by focusing on the defensive system and emphasising dangerous counterattacks, which can add to the attractiveness of the game.
