KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 1, 2007) – Three Asean teams – Thailand, Indonesia and Thailand – have intriguing draws for the second round of the 2010 World Cup qualifiers.
Following from the first round qualification matches 11 teams – Bahrain, Uzbekistan, Kuwait, DPR Korea, China, Jordan, Qatar, Lebanon, Oman, UAE and Iraq – have been seeded where they received a direct bye to the third round. The bottom eight seeds will play in round two. Indonesia will have to face Syria, Singapore will take on AFC Challenge Cup champions Tajikistan while Thailand will play Yemen. The draw for the third round takes place in Durban, South Africa, on Nov 25, 2007 where the five top seeds in Asia – Australia , Korea Republic , Saudi Arabia, Japan and Iran – will join the qualification process.
