JAKARTA (21 May 2009) – The Indonesia Under-23 team will be heading to Iran next week as part of their preparation for the SEA Games which will be held in Laos at the end of the year.
Following the cancellation of the Intercontinental Cup in Malaysia, the Indonesian FA (PSSI) have arranged for the team which is being led by Uruguayan Cesar Payovich to play two matches in Teheran. “While in Iran, the U23 team will play two matches – against the Iran U23 squad on 26 May and then the Iran national team on 28 May,” said Hamka Kady, the head of the Indonesia national team management. A total of 20 players have been called in preparation for the trip to Iran with 18 of the players currently playing in the Indonesia Super League while the remaining two players are from the U21 League. Among the notables are Boas Solossa and Immanuel Wanggai, who play for Indonesia Super League champions Persipura.
